I'VE BEEN DOING REALLY WELL WITH THE VO2 MAX PROTOCOL, HOWEVER SNATCHING WILL BE VERY PAINFUL HOPEFULLY NOT FOR LONG SO I JUST ADAPTED TO THE SITUATION I CONTINUED SNATCHING WITH MY RIGHT HAND AND INCLUDED SOME ROPES GONE WILD THE SAME PROTOCOL AND IF YOU'VE EVER DONE ROPE TRAINING YOU KNOW IT'S A GOOD CARDIO CHALLENGE IT'S NOT SNATCHING,BUT IT'S A GOOD ALTERNATIVE AND I'M NOT STOPPING. I KNOW SOME INJURIES ARE REALLY BAD AND DO MAKE TRAINING DIFFICULT,BUT I TRULLY BELIEVE WHERE THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY. Now I'm going to go against this for one second, what are we talking about kettlebell training or training in general? There is no difference training can' t be a part time gig in my opinion. While I don't want to get to deep into retraining the brain what I did want to talk about were some of the facts he brought up and how it will help you. Dr. Amen went on to talk about everything the brain effects from altizmers to depression and how continous learning can help prevent altizmers and proper diet can effect depression, but what was great is that all the things he talked about which was alot the number one cure for all these things was you quessed it EXERCISE 30 MIN A DAY 5-6 DAYS A WEEK!!!! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Why this made me happy was here is a guy a highly educated well respectd by his peers and he laid dowm for you EXERCISE. There were alot of things he discussed so I recommend looking up the program and seeing for yourself I thought it was great. In closing he gave a interesting satistic in a study of 24 people 12 taking zoloft which is an antidepresent and 12 just exercising after a 12 week period the result were the same, he went on to say that after another 12 weeks those who were exercising "blew the other group away" there results were so much better that's the only way he could discribe it. Any exercise can be used during this process. I found this to be the best form of exercise for myself and clients. The &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;protocal&lt;/span&gt; can be done in under 20 &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;mins&lt;/span&gt; this includes proper &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;warmup&lt;/span&gt;, who doesn't have 20 &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;mins&lt;/span&gt; to dedicate to exercise a day think about it. I personally use the &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;kettlebells&lt;/span&gt; for most of the exercises, but trust me &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;body weight&lt;/span&gt; in this program can be brutal. Once again it was filled with great speakers like Gray Cook, Mike Boyle, Anthony Dilugio, Juan Carlos Santana. Sunday was a busy day I didn't have alot of free time and I needed to get my dog Charlie out for a run. This is when I discovered New England Kettlebells Training Rock approx 100 pds of lifting fun. Here is the circuit I made up.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;1 MIN jumping jax&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;10 cleans&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;10 squat&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;10 burpees &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;10 chest tosses&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;10 shld presses (careful)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;1min rest repeat 5 rds&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;approx 15 minutes&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Remember it's quality not quantity&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;not counted jumping jax, rest, burpees = 10 min I did approx 20,ooo pds of work in 5 mins(give or take a couple of min, of actual lifting). Think about 4O reps first round100 lbs each rep = 4,000 x 5 rounds = 20,000lbs of work, now compare that to your time spent traveling to the gym and actual time working out HOW MUCH WORK DID YOU GET DONE? There are a couple of contributing factors involved &lt;div&gt; from improper landing mechanic to just real bad luck. One factor which I consider to be the main culprit is the mechanics of the hip.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The GLUTE MAXIMUS AND GLUTE MEDIUS which can become week in anyone,how ever it seems to be worse in women ecspecially adolescent girls do to the fact the pelvis is wider in females for obvious reasons .  With exercises like clamshells and glutebridges these two muscles can be strengthed, but recently I've been trying something different  that has been working well Kettlebell Swings with power band abduction.  What I wanted to do is make it more fun and exciting for my girls,but also affective from a training stand point. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here is what I do I take a perform better power band and place in about mid thigh around both legs and ask the person Bailey in this picture to perform a kettlebell swing while keeping tension on the power band. Now I 've killed two bird with one stone not only is Bailey getting great Glute activation with the swing, the band is forcing her glute medius to fire (this will also prevent the dreaded knee adduction and give bailey the cardiovascular benefits as well) &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Remember it is our jobs as RKC/Trainers to not only make training fun, we also must have a reason and a goal in this case ACL prevention/performance enhancement. I make sure that proper warm including SMR, JOINT RANGE OF MOTION ,ACTIVE FLEXIBILTY INCHWORMS,FAI, LUNGE WALKS,SQUATS are performed. Think about the training the body was doing from trunk stabilizing to stabilizing with movement. Everyday I'm more and more amazed by my daughters feets of balance and strength. You can actually see the learning curve(training) the body goes throught on a daily basis.  That being said once we get older  inactivity or improper body mechanics takes over and we begin the downward spiral. Lets stop that spiral today lets start from the beginning just like when we were young&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Start  working on ROM first don't just pick up a kettlebell and start swinging It doesn't work that way. Make sure that your ROM is good from the neck down once one joint breaks down the rest will follow.  Simple active joint movement everyday prior to work out will insure proper function no weight needed remember my daughter, she practices everyday with no resistance.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Make sure that you warm up either with dynamic flexibility Lunges,squats, jump ropeworks well, anything to elevate heart rate and core temperature, just like using the foam roll you need to prepare your body to train. You must compress that shoulder down into the lattisimus dorsi (lat) in order to correct these technique flaws. With the shoulder in this position it is unstable and open for injury.Now go  to Sean on the right the shoulder is down and close to the ear very stable,this position can be held comfortably for a longer duration with out any energy leaks.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;So remember in the over head position shoulder down into the lat and close to the ear. Not only can these knots in the fascia be very sore they can also affect proper kinetic alignment,flexibiltiy and joint range of motion. In order to get the most out of your kettlebell training you must restore that lost physical function. The best way to start is with foam rolling(self myfascial release).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Starting on the calf muscle and working your way up to hamstring,glute,ITB,quad,and the hip flexor these are some of the key areas I find daily that need the most work. However any part of the body that is knotted up can be done even the arch of the foot(use a golfball) can be rolled out, and for those of you with tight hamstring issues watch what rolling the arch of your foot out can do for you. Remember if your training hard with the kettlebell you need to prepare the body for exercise. If the body is not prepared and you continue to train not only would you not be gettting the most out of your workouts, you also could be setting your self up for an injury later down the line. So with proper warm up,SMR,flexibility,and joint ROM you kettlebell training will be a rewarding experience. Rememeber that fast approaching is the the dreaded plateau period about 12 weeks out. I have always found this to be the best time to take a week off, you heard me a week off. Either way take a week off work on ROM and Flexibility trust me your body will respond and work better for you.
